Theme:Honey to sting

Osvaldo Macedo de Sousa, researcher, writer, creator of humor contests, exhibition curator, is the alma mater of the Biennial of Humor Luíz D`Oliveira Guimarães, held in the parish of Espinhal, Penela Town Hall in Portugal. This Biennial, born in 2008, was a challenge launched by the family of Oliveira Guimarães, as a way of perpetuating the name of emeritus writer, playwright, journalist and humorist Portuguese."

This fifth edition -expresses Osvaldo-, whose motto is" Do ou ao mel Ferrão "is an allegorical journey between the sweetness of honey and the sting that causes bee sting. Something similar encourage cartoonists the world with their works: the sweetness is the comic, and is sharp satire.

They have been submitted to contest 601 drawings by 253 artists from 55 countries. ""The Osvaldo- He points bee is a social animal, symbol of work and loyalty, but also warrior in defense of the community, and when threatened, they use their sting. Similarly, humor is a formula of sweet thought that makes us break the barriers of sociability, combat pessimism, dilute sadness, building a social balance by philosophical smile, and can also criticize when politics, intolerance, abuse of power endanger the community. "The jury of this Biennial V, composed of Emídio Domingues, Mario José Rodrigues, Antonio Alves, Paula Oliveira Guimarães, Osvaldo Macedo de Sousa, Flavian Teixeira, Elisio Amaral Neves and Margatida Macedo de Sousa, decided to award first prize to "Diabetes" Emad Salemi, (Iran); second prize to "The Guardian Bee" by Alessandro Gatto (Italy); and the third prize to "Bancar to Obreira" José Bandeira (Portugal). In addition, other special prizes were awarded.
